Stand Up Freezers For Sale - Have Your Steak And Also Eat It
During this critical economic phase, my wife and I are doing everything we can to trim costs. As a result, we've been spending less on high-priced foods - regrettably including steaks, one of our favorites from the grill.
But during a party at a friend's house we met a man who told us he can get us great prices on beef - less than a couple bucks per pound! The kicker was we had to buy 1/2 a cow. Where could we keep that huge meat? We'd need a freezer, but we had no room for a horizontal chest. Although we did have a 2nd freezer that we keep in the garage, in order that there's always cold soda and beer on hand.
My wife suggested that we could replace it with a stand up freezer. We began by looking over stand up freezer reviews. We narrowed down our choices to a GE at Sears and a Whirlpool at Fry's based on selection and cost and moved out to the stores to check them out. There we found that the GE was only available in a right-hand door settings and we wanted left.
Then, while checking out the Whirlpool we realized that the amount of meat we were considering wasn't going to be simple to pack into the available space without some falling out when we opened the door. So in the end we made up our mind not to buy. The available units didn't quite seem to meet our requirements.
Just 2 days later, our neighborhood newsletter arrived and one of our neighbors had one stand up freezer for sale! We checked it out and noticed it opened to the left. Further, our neighbor told us he'd been using it for exactly the same purpose we wanted and had put elastic nets inside to keep things from falling out! The freezer was certainly not in "new" condition - beaten up and also a showing some corrosion on some of the outer edges.
But then, he only wanted $50 for it so we had a deal. And a few weeks later we sold our old refrigerator for $50, so it wound up costing us nothing! Now we have a freezer packed with cheap meat. Nevertheless, I don't have an extra stash of cold beer. Ah, the compromises we make.
