If, like me, you scarcely or never use your heating system, chances are that it's not in very good shape. Particularly if you've a house built in one of those new housing developments that spring up over night with sloppy construction, you probably do not even have correctly sealed ducts. I think that the best answer for me may just be to get one of the newer window mounted air conditioners. They have become less expensive and cheaper, and they use a lesser amount of energy than ever before, as I have heard. It appears like a more cost-effective solution all around, due to the fact that I can just spend my time in that room when I want to be cool, without needing to pay to run the air conditioner to cool the whole house, which is a gigantic expense. I think that central air will have to wait at least another year at this point. I would rather spend my cash on trips to the beach.
