An Alcohol Addicted Individual Goes To Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detox And Rehabilitation For His Alcohol Dependency

Donald used to talk big to his friends how he could maintain a 40 hour per week job and get smashed almost every night. Sadly, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for roughly three years, he began to manifest different alcohol related problems.

For instance, he had a very hard time getting up for work because he felt so drained when he got up. Furthermore, just about every morning Donald experienced an intense hangover. Without a doubt, the combination of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel energized to go to work. To make things more difficult, approximately a week ago he received his third drunk driving arrest in the past thirteen weeks.

To compound things further, at his job his last two performance appraisals were less than acceptable. And finally, his four-year relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his depression, lack of patience, angry outbursts, and his financial difficulties.

Though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he simply started looking like he was in his late forties. Unfortunately, this is what careless drinking can do to a person. And in all honesty he understood that he was suffering from the negative outcomes of alcohol abuse or alcoholism and that he was too young to fritter away his life to careless and irresponsible drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon realized that he lost all control after ingesting his first drink. Since this was an incident that was repeated every single time he drank, this concerned him greatly. In actual fact, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.

After mentioning his alcohol drinking problems and his excessive and hazardous drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he sincerely declared that he has been drinking in an excessive manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then said that drinking in moderation does not work well for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Donald also told his doctor about his depression and how this mental health problem was adversely influencing his relationship with his lady friend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Brand, a drug and alcohol addiction psychologist, who influenced Donald to register in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical attention for his depression at this facility.

After three months of intensive rehabilitation, Donald left the in-patient rehab center and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a gym and began working out two or three times per week. Within nine months Donald was a new person. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more caring individual in his relationship with his girlfriend. In short, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
