A Married Couple Becomes Distraught About Their Abusive And Irresponsible Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Exhibit Any Signs Of Alcohol Dependency
Lenny and Angie have been married for three years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have children and so they purposely established an extraordinarily exciting social life.
The main issue, however, is that nearly everything they do with their family and friends is related to drinking. As an illustration, all of the parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, sporting events, and family get-togethers they patronize are associated with drinking.
If they were responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a major issue. Since they drink in a hazardous manner, nevertheless, they are beginning to become aware of some obvious alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
As an illustration, just five days ago Lenny was placed under arrest for his first DWI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work because of alcohol-related health issues. Furthermore, Lenny's last three performance reviews at his place of employment have been less than creditable and he has begun to forget what he says or does when he drinks. Lastly, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family is starting to display some disquiet about his drinking difficulties.
In a similar way, Angie has been feeling dejected about things in her life and to come to grips with these feelings, she has been drinking more regularly than any time in the past ten months. In addition, Angie has been getting more than a few painful migraines and having very bad hangovers after drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling much less active when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been getting some unkind criticism from her coworkers, relatives, friends, and family members about her unhealthy and abusive drinking.
One Monday evening while watching the television, Angie and Lenny accidentally found a remarkable documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This TV documentary was a real surprise to Angie and Lenny because some of the alcohol facts that were highlighted gave them the impression that they were unshakably linked to quite a few of the drinking difficulties Angie and Lenny had been going through.
With thoughts of the television program still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol addiction signs they have been displaying could be a warning that they are alcoholic or possibly becoming dependent on alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the doctors at the nearby drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking circumstances.
Paradoxically, although their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was clear to see that Lenny and Angie were at the very least focusing on their drinking issues, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in finding out how they could appreciably reduce or get rid of the drinking-related issues that had begun to worsen.
When Angie and Lenny went to bed that night, they arrived at a decision that the next morning, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation facility located just North of the State Capital. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to triumph over the drinking difficulties that had materialized in their lives, they actually had the most energizing night's sleep they could bring to mind in the last seven months.
